Our Carousel Parlour is filled with warm wood tones, soft creams and nostalgic Christmas details. For the most beautifully coordinated photographs, we recommend dressing in warm, muted and earthy tones that complement the set rather than compete with it.

You don’t have to dress everyone in the same colour — a thoughtful mix of complementary shades will create a more natural and elevated family portrait.

Option 1 — Classic Cream & Caramel

The safest and most timeless option, especially for larger/multi-gen families.

Styling: ivory dresses, oatmeal knits, camel trousers, brown loafers. Mix the five shades rather than putting everyone in identical cream.

Option 2 — Heritage Christmas

More festive, but still sophisticated rather than obvious red-and-green Christmas.

This would photograph beautifully beside the carousel horse and Christmas tree. Use oxblood/burgundy as an accent rather than dressing the whole family in it.

Option 3 — Dusty Rose Parlour

A softer romantic palette that works especially well for families with girls.

Think vintage dresses, textured blouses, knitwear and brown leather shoes. The muted pink gives some colour against the cream walls without fighting the wood.

Option 4 — Woodland Parlour

This would be my choice for families wanting something less traditionally Christmas.

Very good for boys, larger families and pet families. It also connects naturally with the tree and timber carousel.

Option 5 — Vintage Jewel

The richest option and ideal for customers who want a slightly dressier Christmas portrait.

The key here is muted jewel tones, not bright jewel colours. For example, burgundy velvet + champagne + forest green would look very luxe against this set.

Colors to Avoid

Bright Reds & Greens

While festive, traditional holiday reds and greens can look overly bold against the neutral palette of the "Tree of Lights" setup, potentially clashing with the soft, warm tones of the space. Instead, opt for muted versions of these colors, like sage green or dusty rose.

 

 

Neon & Vibrant Colors

Avoid neon or highly saturated colors like bright pinks, yellows, or blues. These tones will feel out of place in the serene, minimalist environment and can detract from the sophisticated holiday feel of the setup.

Black

While black can be classic, it can also feel too heavy in this light, airy setup. Deep charcoal or dark brown are better alternatives, offering contrast without the starkness of black.

Bold Patterns & Logos

Large patterns, loud prints, or logos can distract from the cohesive look of the family photos and may stand out too much against the neutral tones of the studio. Stick to subtle, solid colors or very small patterns if needed.

Cool, Icy Colors (Like Blues & Purples)

While beautiful, icy blues and purples can feel too cold for this warm, cozy setup. Instead, stick to warm or earthy tones that create harmony with the Christmas decor and wood accents in the studio.
